Design Rationale
From my research in Task One I came to understand that one of the most important aspects of a website is the navigation. The sites I found with the most user-friendly navigation had a strong sense of structure and layout with menus and headings bold and in obvious places (top/bottom horizontal or left verticle). For this reason the two layouts I have fleshed out have these qualities. I also found it was important that the site project the essence of the “look and feel” of their magazine - which influenced my choice of colours (pink and white), as well as what images to use (images from the magazine itself). So, the more imaginary the better - better aesthetics - BUT do not crowd the page - hence strong structure is needed.
Another issue is knowing that you’re at a magazine’s OFFICIAL website. For this reason I want to either have the actual “a cloth-covered button’s” logo or the title large and in the appropriate colours.
I am also hoping to add more “textile” details, such as measuring tape for the example 2 menu.
